Domain has launched new search features for its users with a view to aid the valuation process, and in response to growing demand for school catchment data.

Making the announcement this week, Domain has introduced a new feature which allows users to search for properties by school name and catchment area.

There are a number of motivators behind this latest update. For agents, chief product officer at Domain Maty Paule said the feature works to improve valuation data and accuracy.

“For agents, to be able to search by school name on Domain also provides a valuable tool to demonstrate market knowledge and shed light on the full value of properties,” Mr Paul said.

For buyers, Domain notes the demand for data on proximity to schools, which forms a critical part of the purchase or renting process.

“Anecdotal consumer feedback and user research with agents have definitely shown a continuing interest in school catchment information,” Mr Paule said.

“We know school catchment is often a critical factor for many Aussies in the property decision-making process as it can influence where a child can enrol.

“It can also have a big impact on sale price, especially in areas with sought-after public schools. But this information hasn’t always been accessible, which is why we’ve released this new feature.”

The new feature is effective immediately, and also provides information such as travel times to and from a school and notifications when a property in a particular school catchment area becomes available.
