From this month, the institute is providing its members with free access to an employee assistance program.
REIV said the initiative, which has seen it partner with EAP Assist, is in response to the increasing pressures being faced by real estate professionals as they navigate a challenging “high demand and low supply market”.
REIV members will have access to online wellness resources – including an app, videos, screening tools, as well as stress management and breathing strategies that the Victorian state body said would play “an important role in helping members improve performance, productivity and retention, while reducing occupational stress”.
President Andrew Meehan said the REIV recognises “the challenging conditions Victorian real estate professionals are operating under” and believes the resources will be especially important for providing support to Victoria’s property managers.
He highlighted that those working in the property management space are currently navigating extremely high rental demand, while being tasked with communicating any necessary rent increases on the behalf of property owners, alongside “high rental demand, rising costs for rental providers and implementing the recent legislative changes”.
“We’re proud to offer these resources to ensure all our members and their teams can access the resources they need to address significant stress and pressure they may be experiencing in their roles,” the president concluded.
A report released earlier this year revealed that a looming “wellness crisis” could lead to higher instances of “quiet quitting” in the workplace.
According to Hutton & Hutton CEO Peter Hutton, the phenomenon of quiet quitting “is loud in real estate”.
