An iPhone app that allows landlords and property investors to instantly see when their rent has been paid and the most recent photos of their properties has been launched by RUN Property.

In what the company said is a world-first, the free RUN Property Tracker app will give landlords instant access to details about their investment properties without needing to contact their property manager.

“For the first time with mobile phone technology, property owners can now see at the touch of a button when their rent has been increased, copies of rental statements and invoices, inspection reports and photos of inside and outside their investment properties,” said RUN Property CEO Rob Farmer.

“One of the real estate industry’s biggest complaints from property owners is a lack of communication with their rental manager, so we’ve tackled that issue head-on by developing the world’s first iPhone app that gives owners everything they could ever want to know about their property immediately it becomes available.

“Time-poor property owners can now receive the same level of minute-by-minute access to information as people who use online banking or sharemarket investors who use mobile phone applications to follow movements in share prices,” Mr Farmer continued.

“Other companies have iphone apps, but most of them are basic search engines of properties for sale and rent. The RUN Property Tracker puts landlords in control of their investments and gives them instant access to their personal property manager through their iPhone or iPad.”

RUN Property said property owners who switch the management of their property to RUN before June 30 will receive a free iPad.

The new app announcement comes shortly after Rental Express Group, a privately owned property management business with offices in Qld and WA, entered into a conditional agreement to buy the RUN Property and Agent Plus businesses for an estimated $65.4 million.

RUN Property manages around $10 billion in properties in Qld, NSW and Victoria, while administration and accounting software Agent Plus is its fully owned subsidiary. Rental Express is the largest privately owned property management company in Qld, and has two offices in WA.

If the deal proceeds, which is expected by October at the latest, the new entity will manage approximately 20,000 properties in NSW, Victoria, Qld and WA.
