A Perth-based real estate marketing specialist has released an activity book aimed at educating children on real estate.
John Caputo of Caputo Real Estate told Real Estate Business the books have been a success and have helped increase his profile in the community.
“The motivation came from me wanting to educate my own kids with information that is relevant for them today and for them growing up,” he said.
“It’s all about practical information, so kids can learn what a real estate agent does. It helps the kids think and it’s good for the parents to engage with the kids on this product as well.”
The activity books, which are targeted towards five to 12 year-old children, contain a range of interactive activities such as helping different characters pick a house, and colouring-in competitions.
Mr Caputo has distributed his books freely to his customers, local schools and cafes, which has enabled him to use them as a marketing tool.
He said he had received a positive reception from teachers and parents.
“I have teachers telling me, 'Wow I haven’t seen anything like it in 30 years of teaching,’” he said.
Mr Caputo is sharing his tool with agents across the nation, allowing them to purchase customised activity books with their name and company.
“They can use them to promote themselves at their local school, they can give them to their client, they can use them at home opens and they can use them at fairs," he explained.
“People will see their face on the front, and it’s branding - it’s getting them out to the market, it's building credibility, it’s a talking point for the parents.”
He said the colouring-in competitions in the book in particular would provide avenues for agents to contact potential clients.
“The kids will colour in the competition, they’ll send it in and it’ll give the real estate agent an opportunity to engage with the parents and meet some new people," he said.
Off the back of the book’s success, Mr Caputo said he was currently applying the concept to other industries and has just finished a car activity book.
