Victoria’s top real estate professionals and agencies were recognised for their achievements in the industry at the annual state awards last Thursday.
The Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) held its 20th Awards for Excellence 2013 at a gala event at Crown Palladium.
“With finalists in 30 categories, the Awards were hotly contested and receiving an REIV Award for Excellence confers immeasurable benefit to the career and business of individual professionals and agencies,” said REIV CEO Enzo Raimondo.
Independent group Gary Peer & Associates was a finalist for eight categories and was awarded with four, including Large Residential Agency of the Year and Corporate Promotion Award (Multiple Offices).
“We are all very proud,” director Gary Peer told Real Estate Business. “We have never gone in the awards before.”
“Winning Large Agency of the Year was probably one of the highlights of my professional career because it recognised of the people in my team who are incredible.”
Mr Peer said he was particularly proud of his group’s weekly video series, GPTV, which was awarded with the Innovation Award.
“It’s very much a way that we are engaging with our marketplace, with different things from interviews to talking about the market, to market wrap to up-and-coming properties to real estate strategies for buyers and sellers.
“We are very excited about being recognised for that because it is something different and unique takes a lot of time and thought.
“Our challenge as agents is always to set ourselves apart and do something different and communicate with our clients in a way that’s engaging.”
hockingstuart was awarded with the Copywriting Award for its weekly Red magazine, which showcases the network’s best properties of the week and provides commentary into the home buyer market.

“This award highlights the knowledge and experience behind the hockingstuart network that helps to keep our customers’ fingers on the pulse week in, week out,” he said.
The group also won Novice Auctioneer of the Year, which was presented to Nicholas Goold from the Glen Iris hockingstuart office.
