The network has bolstered its corporate team with the internal promotion of a prominent figure.

Michael Anania, formerly head of property manager at Laing+Simmons The Abassi Group, an office that encompasses the St Marys and Ropes Crossing outfits, has been tasked with leading the company’s property management services to offices throughout the growing network and its customers.

Sharing his views on the great exodus of property managers due to the pressures forged during the pandemic, Mr Anania outlined how “many new people are making the career transition to property management too”.

“Hospitality and other face-to-face customer service experts are showing increasing interest in this specialist service area,” he said.

Outlining how “these people need to be supported and trained from day one so they can grow and develop to become great property managers in the future”, he said such duties would be the focus on Laing+Simmons, “and the training programs and initiatives we make available to the property managers across our network creates a powerful point of difference for our offices”.

Brand chief executive officer Leanne Pilkington explained that the promotion of the vastly experienced Mr Anania is a demonstration of the brand’s people-first culture.

“Many networks have a head of property management whose typical focus is compliance. At Laing+Simmons, our corporate team provides a full property management service to our offices, whether it be to facilitate short-term support until they build their own property management business, or to manage this function indefinitely,” she said.

Ms Pilkington believes that “Michael is the ideal person to lead this operation at the corporate level”.

Building on this, she outlined: “Providing a complete property management service to our franchise partners is an investment we’re able to make because, as an ownership group, we’re not beholden to specific profit target or revenue benchmarks.”

Mr Anania’s appointment is the latest in a string of changes that have occurred across the Laing+Simmons business in 2022, which included updating the network’s training strategy, the appointment of a new head of people and culture in February and the establishment of two new offices at the beginning of last month.
