Selling multimillion-dollar properties may spell success and prestige for real estate agents, but helping a buyer find her dream home was even more priceless for this Gold Coast agent.

It all started when Jillian O’Reilly travelled to Queensland to visit her family in 2020.

“She got stuck here when the borders closed during COVID,” recounted RE/MAX agent Ben Williams.

Unable to return to her house in Melbourne for two years due to border restrictions, Ms O’Reilly decided to sell her property there and purchase a home near her family in Ashmore.

However, her house hunting adventure dragged for months with no success until Mr Williams stepped in to help her emerge as the winning bidder.

“After searching for months and losing out to other buyers, finally her dreams came true, and I felt privileged to play a part in that,” said Mr Williams.

Together with RE/MAX auctioneer Dene Tucker, Mr Williams facilitated the sale of the deceased estate at Hart Street, Ashmore for $470,000 to Ms O’Reilly.

Reflecting on how he was instrumental in making Ms O’Reilly’s wish become a reality, Mr Williams said: “She now has a place to call her own and start rebuilding her life in beautiful Queensland. With all the sadness around us – through floods, war, COVID – that auction was a good news story that made our hearts warm and fuzzy, and a fantastic result for both seller and buyer.”
