Daniel Gannon has been named as the Property Council of Australia’s (PCA) new executive director of retirement living.
Putting him in charge of the Retirement Living Council (RLC), the council has touted Mr Gannon’s experience as the Property Council’s South Australian executive director for the past eight years.
As of 4 October, he’ll be focusing on his new role.
To date, Mr Gannon has led major public campaigns, grown his large network, and had a big impact on major policy decisions that affect the property industry.
Prior to that, Mr Gannon worked as the director of media and communications for Steven Marshall, who was the leader of the South Australian government opposition at the time. He also did consulting work for the South Australian Cricket Association.
Property Council chief executive Ken Morrison has expressed his enthusiasm for Mr Gannon’s appointment.
“Daniel is a respected and highly experienced executive director, and after eight years of loyal service in SA, we are excited to have him take on this new role within the organisation,” Mr Morrison commented.
“Daniel brings a pedigree of advocacy success, deep industry knowledge, strong member engagement and a powerful knack for delivering positive outcomes to this national level role.”
Mr Gannon himself expressed: “I’m honoured to be taking up this role and continuing my commitment to the property sector through the Retirement Living Council.”
Highlighting how the senior living industry plays a key role in giving Australia’s aging population housing options, Mr Gannon is set to lead the advocacy agenda in the best interests of the members and the Australian community as a whole.
“My family actually has a long history of building and managing retirement villages around the country, so I know the industry and its incredible people, well,” he said.
RLC president M-L MacDonald has also commented on Mr Gannon’s appointment, stating that he brings with him a wealth of experience: “I extend a warm welcome to Daniel and look forward to working with him on the future direction of the industry.”
Mr Gannon will move into the role vacated by Ben Myers, with the latter thanked for his work over the past six years.
“Ben has led the Retirement Living Council with great professionalism, integrity and strength, and we wish him well for his next adventure,” Mr Morrison said.
