The global commercial real estate giant announced the appointment of two key leadership personnel, billed as “part of its ongoing commitment to improve sustainability outcomes”.
Matthew Clifford has been announced by the agency as its head of sustainability and ESG, Asia Pacific, while Andrew Phipps joins as the global head of sustainability thought leadership.
Based in Sydney, Mr Clifford’s been tasked with driving the business’s sustainability strategy in the Asia-Pacific region and will lead a team of over 60 sustainability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) professionals to achieve these goals through advising, certifying, reporting and disclosing, and offering asset optimisation services to investors and occupier clients alike.
Cushman & Wakefield’s APAC chief executive officer, Matthew Bouw detailed his “long career in real estate sustainability reflects his personal passion for driving carbon reduction and environmental improvements within the built environment.”
Entering the firm’s newly created global head of sustainability thought leadership role, Mr Phipps will look to progress Cushman & Wakefield’s sustainability and ESG research and thought leadership proposition and output from his base in London. He previously led the marketing and research functions for EMEA.
Mr Bouw explained how “establishing a single, global point of contact for sustainability thought leadership is a clear indication of the importance sustainability has for our colleagues and clients, and for the sector in mind.”
Adding the company’s commitment extends beyond “not only meeting our own carbon reduction targets” and incorporates a desire to “continually [adapt] and [expand] our service offering to help our clients reach their own sustainability goals.”
He celebrated the pair’s arrival, outlining their possession of “great passion and experience”, which will benefit their new roles.
“We are excited to welcome Matt to the company and to continue working with Andrew to make an impact on the sustainability outcomes for commercial real estate,” Mr Bouw concluded.
Mr Clifford and Mr Phipps are the latest in a string of appointments made by Cushman & Wakefield this year, following a suite of directorial arrivals announced during the first week of the year and the internal appointment of an ANZ lead earlier this month.
