Growing demand for hybrid working spaces has initiated IWG’s arrival in Perth, with a state-of-the-art flexible working facility set to open in Nedlands.

Dubbed Spaces Nedlands, the three-storey, 1,100-square-metre site will possess a host of facilities conducive to professional productivity, including private offices, meeting rooms, co-working and creative spaces, and additional amenities such as electric vehicle charging stations.

The space’s delivery will be conducted in partnership with Nedlands Office Pty Ltd, which has entered into a management agreement with the Spaces brand, part of the IWG umbrella.

IWG’s country head, Australia, Damien Sheehan, explained the Spaces Nedlands centre is a primary example of a growing desire for “fully integrated residential and commercial spaces”, initially seen in the United States, crossing over into the Australian market.

“As hybrid working has become the new normal, the need for high-quality flexible workspaces near a person’s residential address is becoming more in demand,” he said.

“The Spaces Nedlands commitment with Project Solutions (Western Australia) comes at a time when more and more companies are discovering that flexible working boosts employee happiness and satisfaction while helping the environment with less travel time required to and from the office,” he added.

IWG’s model aims to boost productivity while allowing a “business to scale up or down at significantly reduced costs.” Research from the group suggests hybrid working arrangements can potentially save companies up to $11,000 per employee.

Tania Sydney-Smith, director at Project Solutions, who own the site Space Nedlands will be situated on, expressed her excitement at the partnership, which she explained provides an opportunity to realise the company’s objective on purchase to “encourage collaboration and productivity amongst the people within it.

She celebrated the numerous offerings provided by the hybrid workspace giant, as well as the “commercial eye” IWG has brought to the design.

Ms Sydney-Smith described the international flexible workspace brand’s support as “instrumental,” adding, “We’re looking forward to completing our joint vision on this project, and to continue working alongside the IWG team to manage Spaces Nedlands, a much-awaited facility locally.”

The Nedlands project is part of a broader IWG commitment to introduce 40 flexible working locations within Australia over the next 12 months, with a further 1,000 spaces globally as expectations of hybrid working arrangements continue to increase.
