Two top-tier law firms have taken more than 7,000 square metres of space in a Queensland development still four years off completion.

Dexus revealed DLA Piper and Allens have both committed to its Waterfront Brisbane development, with the former taking 2,250 square metres of office space across two levels, while the latter has pre-committed to 4,800 square metres across three levels.

They join other professional services outfits, including Deloitte, MinterEllison, Gadens and Colliers in the North Tower.

For Dexus, it means 52 per cent of the tower is now committed – four years ahead of the 2028 scheduled completion date.

Comprising two new office towers on the Brisbane riverfront, the Eagle Street Pier and Waterfront transformation is also set to be a tourist drawcard, touting enhanced open spaces and amenity alongside a revitalised “premier waterfront dining hub”.

Weighing in on DLA Piper’s decision to pre-commit to a building not even two years into its construction (construction commenced in January 2023), DLA Piper Brisbane managing partner Sophie Devitt said the firm was “excited to secure this premier location for our employees and clients”.

“We were impressed with the project’s sustainability credentials and state-of-the-art facilities and technology. We’re confident these premises will meet our future business needs, while prioritising the wellbeing of our people,” she commented.

For Dexus executive general manager, office, Andy Collins, the leasing success on show at Waterfront Brisbane “demonstrates the continued demand for high-quality sustainable workspaces”.

He believes the Queensland capital has “a decade of opportunity in the lead up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games”.

“Projects like Waterfront Brisbane [will be] unlocking investment and creating jobs for years to come,” Mr Collins added.
