The newest director for the Darling Downs-based business may be a young gun, but he comes from a long line of Toowoomba real estate agents.

Chris Stewart has just been appointed general manager of LJ Hooker Commercial Toowoomba, the agency in charge of commercial, retail and industrial property across the south-west Queensland region.

As part of the appointment, Mr Stewart has also been made a full partner and director within the business.

Mr Stewart has only been working in the real estate industry for nine years, having started out his career with development firm FKG Group while still in university.

Already, however, Mr Stewart has won the respect of LJ Hooker’s head of commercial, Tom Donnelly, for his “brilliant real estate mind”.

“Chris has won the trust of commercial investors and occupiers throughout the region for his connections, knowledge and being able to deliver true value to their strategies,” said Mr Donnelly.

Mr Donnelly added that he’s “delighted for Chris to contribute to the wider LJ Hooker Commercial strategy, strengthening collaborations across the network to deliver exceptional results”.

Despite his fresh-faced appearance, Mr Stewart is no stranger to the property sector. His parents, Mike and Julie Stewart, have been powerhouses in Queensland’s commercial and residential property sectors for over three decades; and his grandmother, Claire Stewart, founded Stewart Realty in the 1980s.

Mr Donnelly believes that this background has served Mr Stewart well, asserting that “Mike and Julie have been central players in the Queensland property market for many years, and they’ve brought Chris into an environment in which he’s thrived”.

Mike, Julie and Chris Stewart will now work alongside each other in LJ Hooker Commercial Toowoomba’s executive team. Mr Stewart will oversee day-to-day operations, his mother will lead the outfit’s property management team, and his father will remain as the group CEO.

Mike Stewart expressed optimism about the appointment, saying: “From my perspective, witnessing Chris and his cohort of like-minded young real estate professionals tackle the challenges and opportunities within our marketplace and Queensland at large is enthralling and exciting.”

“As we embark on this next chapter, we eagerly anticipate the future with excitement and the expectation of unparalleled success,” he concluded.

Mr Stewart’s appointment as director of LJ Hooker Commercial Toowoomba comes just six weeks after Mr Donnelly took on the role of national head of commercial.

It’s a busy time for LJ Hooker Commercial in southern Queensland, with the brand’s Brisbane commercial outfit also recently welcoming a new director in David Sheppard.
