Jason Pantzer of Phillips Pantzer Donnelley knows a thing or two about being a top agent. He’s currently ranked seven in REB’s Top 100 and completed more than 100 transactions with a combined value of $200 million in the last financial year. He spoke with REB about how switching your outlook can greatly impact your career.
“Rather than focus on how agents are perceived in the market and spending so much energy on that focus, it’s focusing on yourself, your team, your marketing, your prospecting and all those things that [enables]being able to write 100-plus deals a year,” Mr Pantzer says.
He said a good mindset is important in the real estate industry because “longevity breeds success in this business”.
“Too many young people see this as a glamorous industry and real estate agents are remunerated quite well, and they think they can just get out there and kick goals in the first year or two. That’s not what this business is about,” Mr Pantzer said.
He said agents should get themselves into the mindset of achieving long-term success and stop focusing on short-term wins. One way of doing this is by setting long-term goals.
“You need to have a three-year plan, a five-year plan, a 10-year plan. Set your goals and work out the ways that you’re going to achieve those goals.
“This business is about taking gradual steps, doing a few of the simple things right, and then the snowball will just keep rolling.”
Mr Pantzer said success is not instant and any agent in the Top 100 had to work hard for years to get to where they are.
“Success doesn’t happen overnight, not in this business, not in any business.”
