A new chief operating officer will be at the helm of Harcourts International, moving across from LJ Hooker to take up the role vacated by Rob Forde.

Andrew Friebe has been announced as the new COO, taking up a position in the brand’s global executive leadership team which oversees more than 900 franchise offices across nine countries.

According to a statement from Harcourts International, Mr Friebe will lead the company’s strategy for operational execution, helping to position Harcourts as “the real estate franchisor of choice” from January 2021, based at the company’s corporate offices in Brisbane, Queensland.

The new COO brings more than 15 years of real estate experience to the role. From 2015 to 2018, he was the state CEO for Harcourts in South Australia.

Commenting on Mr Friebe’s appointment, Harcourts CEO Steve Caradoc-Davies said: “It gives me great pleasure to bring Andrew back to the corporate leadership team.

“His in-depth knowledge and understanding of real estate, both within a real estate business and in the corporate environment, will be invaluable in his new role as COO for Harcourts International.

“As someone who shares our values and culture, I am confident that Andrew will easily integrate with the team and make a significant impact.”

Most recently, Mr Friebe was the regional managing director for South Australia/Western Australia at LJ Hooker.

Reflecting on Mr Friebe’s time at LJ Hooker, network chief Graeme Hyde said that during his time with the organisation, “Andrew assisted us in growing our network, and our offices within it, to take more market share with a sharp focus on industry consolidation, the recruitment of high-performing agents and rent roll acquisitions”.

“We wish Andrew all the best in his new operations role in Brisbane,” he stated.

Mr Hyde said LJ Hooker will be identifying “suitable candidates that will continue Andrew’s momentum and take our brand into 2021 and beyond” over the coming weeks.
