A Brisbane-based resident looked to an agent for help when buying her first home almost 20 years ago. Just recently, she enlisted him to help sell the very same property he had shown her.
RE/MAX Results agent Allan Tillett helped Mary Horner buy her very first house in the Brisbane suburb of Camp Hill back in 2004.
From the outside, the home wasn’t to her taste, but Ms Horner admitted she “instantly fell in love” once inside.
Fast forward to 2021, it’s come time for Mary and her husband, Shane, to move on.
While Shane and Mary had maintained the property through the years, they had not actively made any improvements.
Mary once again looked to Mr Tillett for assistance — this time to sell.
Deciding to take the off-market route, Mr Tillett knew he would find buyers among his database, and managed to find three perfect-fit buyers for the 1940s house in just a couple of days.
Eventually, the home sold for over $1 million, almost doubling the 2004 sale value of $545,000 and far exceeding the valuation that the couple had previously received.
“The sale was the beginning of a new chapter for Mary and Shane, and I’m chuffed to have helped them sell for a great price with multiple offers off-market,” Mr Tillett said.
As a thank-you for ushering them into a new life chapter, Ms Horner surprised her agent with a one-of-a-kind gift: the original advertisement for the Camp Hill home prior to her purchase of it 20 years ago.
“Her father had framed the advertisement in the Courier Mail all those years ago when they purchased and May wanted me to have it. It is now a memento I will proudly hang on to,” Mr Tillett shared.
