An industry executive has been appointed to head up a growth program at one of Australia’s newer agency offerings.

Gavin Croft has taken on the role of director of growth at UrbanX, after previous stints that have included: Queensland state manager for Landmark Harcourts, sales director and head auctioneer for BresicWhitney in Sydney, and COO for Ray White New Zealand.

Commenting on his latest career move, Mr Croft said: “I’m really excited about this new role with UrbanX and being at the forefront of our industry’s evolution.”

He explained that the program he is to oversee is designed to work with agents on the development and leadership of their business, with the goal being “to increase their earnings by 20 per cent year-on-year, with the ultimate outcome of seeing them becoming $1-million-plus income earners”.

“I’ll also be developing new partnerships. We’re looking for the next crop of agents who want to go out on their own and realize their aspirations,” he commented.

According to the new head of growth, real estate “has gone through enormous change” since he began his career, “and that change is only going to speed up in the next few years”.

“Frankly, the future will be nothing like the past.”

Mr Croft believes any business that isn’t agent-centric will be left behind in the next few years.

“After so long working at the executive level of large franchise groups, I’ve seen how the relationship between businesses, their agents and customers has transformed. Realising what someone’s looking for with work satisfaction and goals and helping them achieve that is really important.

Considering it as not just about listing and selling real estate, Mr Croft outlined: “I’ve covered many facets of the industry, from doing 100 transactions in a year, to running my own office, to being COO of Ray White New Zealand, so I’ll be transferring that experience to bring value to UrbanX agents.”

He’s looking forward to working on UrbanX’s program aimed at agents who are keen to grow, and expressed that “he can’t wait” to start helping professionals realise their dreams.

Explaining that he shares UrbanX CEO Dan Argent’s passion for agent development, Mr Croft said that passion had been “a really big part of my journey as a business owner, as a trainer, as a coach and as an auctioneer”.

“Helping agents succeed is something that I wake up each day and genuinely enjoy doing. So, being able to do that with more scale and having some real influence in that space with UrbanX… I just can’t wait.”
