Coronis Franchise Director Jodie Stainton, has said it’s time for women working in the property management industry to take back the power and back themselves.
“The property management industry roughly consists of 80% women and 20% males, yet when it comes to the people in charge making all the decisions in franchises and agencies, for some reason it’s 80% men and only 20% women, which I can’t understand in this day and age,” Ms Stainton said.
“It's been reported that 30% of all property managers leave the industry and our research says it’s because they’re some of the most underappreciated, undervalued and underpaid people in an agency, which is heart breaking.
“When we launched our Coronis Now model, it was with the specific intention to help women stay in property management, help them achieve more flexibility, more income and more control by running and owning their own portfolio.
“There is no reason why property managers should leave the industry for any of those above-mentioned reasons, when they can take their talent, experience and knowledge and make it work for themselves.”
Since launching in 2019, more than 25 partners have signed up under the innovative Coronis model and have proven it is a great business model which rewards the property manager who is putting all the hard work in, not building the wealth of the principal.
“Success looks different for each of our partners and that’s the best thing about our model. Unlike traditional franchises, we don’t force our partners to gain 15 - 20% market share, their goals are purely based on what they want their life to look like, the hours they want to work each day and how much money they want to earn.
“For instance Sara Young in Western Australia only wants to manage 50 properties, but then we have Vicki Wharton in Queensland who is on her way to 200 managements so as working mothers, they control their hours and focus on their children as much as they want which is what is so special about what we’re doing.
“The other element is they’re all part of a something bigger – a supportive community of like-minded people who refer to each other, support each other, give each other tips about prospecting, maintenance, marketing etc. We aren’t competing with each other, so we actively support one another to achieve our portfolio goals.
“What that means is it’s not just you building your business, you have 25 professionals helping you build your business.
“Working parents have enough to deal with without adding any work or contract pressures on top. I’m a working mother, I know what it’s like juggling children, a husband, social life and a job… it’s not easy so anything I can do to support more women, help them create an asset for themselves and gain their life back is worth doing.
“I look at Vicki and it makes me so happy – in the past year she’s paid herself more than $200,000, she’s cancelled her OSHC service because she now has the flexibility and time to pick her kids up from school and she’s living the life she’s always dreamed of.
“This is exactly why I wanted to shake up the industry with a new business model – I want to see more women take back the power in this industry, I want to see more women grow their wealth and I want more women to believe in themselves.
“What we know is that many women need to feel financially secure and a lack of confidence stops them from making the leap – that’s where we help.
“You don’t sign up and then get left on your own. Our community helps you get going … from prospecting databases, referrals, systems, the necessary tech etc. You will get access to the same tech that Coronis operate their 8000 managements through… if it’s helped Coronis grow to this level, it can help you too.”
