Coronis Western Australia Team

Now in its second year, Coronis’ franchise model has taken off in Queensland, Western Australia, New South Wales and Victoria. With more time, more income, more flexibility and freedom than ever before, Coronis Franchise Partners are living their best lives.

We asked our Western Australia Franchise Director, Sara Young, who joined the team in October 2019 about her experience running her own business within Coronis and being the first person to expand the brand outside of Queensland.

What inspired you to make the jump and start your own business within the Coronis business?

I previously owned a business and found the overheads to be staggering.  When I sold that portfolio, I vowed that I would never own another business again. When I heard about the Coronis franchise model, it seemed too good to be true, in fact my first question was ‘what’s the catch?’. Turns out there wasn’t one and I have never looked back.

How has it changed your life?

I love what I do, I have so much choice…. I choose my own hours, how big I want to grow to my portfolio, how many hours I want to work and I choose what landlords and tenants I want to work with which is something you just don’t get when you work in a standard agency.

It has given me a work/life balance that I could never have imagined while still earning a salary comparable with my previous corporate roles but working just a fraction of the hours.  It harnesses my passion for property management but without any stress.

The training is second to none and the investment Coronis puts into their people is invaluable.  I have learned so much on a personal level and professional level and have even had the privilege of participating in a six month leadership course run by Harvard Business School Professor, Boris Groysberg… now that’s something that I never would have had the opportunity of participate in anywhere else. This company actually lives it’s values and truly does what it takes to help their team win at life and create sustainable careers.

What have you achieved since joining Coronis and setting up your own franchise

I have achieved financial freedom and am free of credit card debt.

I have achieved work/life balance and claimed back more than 20 hours per week which were spent commuting or working in a fulltime corporate role.

How many people have joined your Western Australia team and started their own businesses?

We currently have six Coronis partners here in Western Australia.  We are all likeminded professionals, who love what we do and while we all have our own separate businesses, we all support each other while having a great laugh along the way.

We’re all on the same journey, we all face similar challenges along the way, and we are there to support each other.  Speaking from experience, when you operate as a small independent business, you can feel isolated, but within our Coronis Franchise community, there is so much support and love.  We’re all connected using systems such as Microsoft Teams, we all talk everyday, brainstorm ideas, refer to each other and share tips, marketing ideas etc. Everyone wants to see each other succeed, there is no competition and that’s what makes this an amazing company to work for.

What feedback do you receive from people in the industry when you tell them about your business?

Just as I did, the first question most people as is “What’s the catch”.  I always say there is no catch, you just need to trust in yourself and Coronis.

Do you wish you had of made the jump sooner?

I wish the Coronis Franchise model was around years ago.  I am so glad I encountered it when I did and that Andrew Coronis and Jodie Stainton took a leap of faith and enabled me to take it nationally by being the first person to list a Coronis property in Western Australia.  We are starting to really get a name for ourselves in The West and are also starting to gain momentum in sales and property management.

What’s it like working with Coronis Franchise Director Jodie Stainton and the Coronis community?

Jodie is a thinker and a doer, she puts her innovative thoughts into action.  Both Jodie and the whole Coronis community share a wonderful culture that is built on strong values. In my experience, there isn’t anybody sitting in ivory towers making all the calls, no egos and generally everyone wants to help others achieve their goals.
