A Western Australian with 20 years of experience working in property management, sales, and the commercial sector is taking on the state business growth manager position in a new network.
RE/MAX has found something of a jack-of-all-trades in Simon Withers, though the Western Australian real estate professional also brings a deep knowledge of the state’s market and expertise in growing a business to the role.
Mr Withers began his career selling real estate on Western Australia’s western tip in Albany before joining Rockend Technology (MRI), where he worked in client services and training. He held the position of senior portfolio manager with Norfolk Commercial and established his own consulting business in REALpm, which brought him into the Salt Property Group, where he has spent the past 10 years.
RE/MAX managing director Joel Davoren said Mr Withers’ experience made him an excellent fit for the strategic appointment.
“Simon has almost two decades of real estate experience in WA and is a widely known agent in residential real estate in both property management and sales, and as a trainer and a successful business owner in the industry. He also has commercial property experience,” Mr Davoren noted.
“He is a strong supporter and active member to the Real Estate Institute of WA and sits on the REIWA property management national advisory committee.”
Mr Withers steps into the role following former business growth manager Donna Goddard’s decision to take a co-director position at RE/MAX GBT Realty in Nollamara.
He admitted that after 10 years at Salt, moving on to this new opportunity brought mixed emotions.
“After a decade, making a decision to leave was very hard because I’d reached the top there but knew I needed to reach higher,” Mr Withers commented.
He said he spent an extensive period of time weighing up the move to RE/MAX.
“RE/MAX is a global brand and a world leader, whose values align with my own.
“The people at Gough Recruitment Australia knew me well – how fussy I was – so they approached me with the RE/MAX opportunity. I researched RE/MAX and especially the Australian network and its directors extensively,” he explained.
“It can be hard to find good leaders in this industry but all the feedback on the Davorens and Chris Chapman was faultless and extremely positive. Then, with 100 per cent backing from family and friends, I reached out and was ecstatic to be accepted into the business growth manager role.”
