The Rise Initiative - the organisation that was at the forefront of the mental wellness conversation in real estate - has announced two new events to drive awareness even deeper across the industry.

  • Rise Leadership Awakening - March 26-28 2023
  • Rise Conference 2023 - Tuesday August 29, 2023

The charitable foundation is working to redefine what constitutes a successful real estate career and business, developing initiatives that are designed to champion mental wellness and vibrant work cultures alongside traditional performance metrics.

RiSE will hold its Leadership Awakening event, in Sydney from March 26-28 and its annual personal and professional development Rise Conference in Melbourne on Tuesday, August 29.

RiSE Initiative Interim President John Cunningham said the group was proud to champion the ability to achieve real estate performance goals through stronger and healthier human relationships.

“Since Rise began, we’ve been exploring the idea that real estate is so much more than GCI, to-do lists and call sheets and we’re proud to have instigated conversations that are challenging, revelatory and deeply empowering,” John said.

“Our speakers and topics at all our events are chosen to challenge attendee thinking and provide new skills, tools and frameworks that support human-centric leadership that is focused on performance that connects both heart and head. This year’s leadership event was extraordinarily powerful and we’re looking to back that up again with the next one in 2023.”

While agents have embraced social media that presents perfect selves, and strong market performance has created an unprecedented number of million dollar agents, the data shows that burnout, stress, anxiety and depression have never higher in real estate.

“This reveals something is very wrong in our industry,” John said. “If we’re all doing so well, why is everyone in so much pain and how can we address it?

“When Rise first started, we believed that mental health was a deeply personal issue but what the past few years have shown us is how inter-related mental wellness, resilient leadership and supportive work cultures are.”

This year, Rise Leadership will be held in Sydney at Macquarie in Martin Place. The theme of the two night and two day event is Awakening, looking at issues including addressing toxic behaviour within teams, the links between diversity and profitability and sustaining performance at a time when burnout is ever present.

“RiSE supports a safe space where leaders can think, brainstorm, contribute and connect to explore modern leadership and create a braver real estate space,” John said.

“It is our ongoing purpose to bring together real estate’s boldest thinkers and biggest hearts to discuss how we can transform leadership in our industry so that it is centred around people, not transactions.”

Bookings are now open for RiSE Leadership Awakening, with more conference details to be announced shortly.
