The countdown is well and truly on for the 25th anniversary event of the Australasian Real Estate Conference (AREC).

As of this week, 3,000 delegates have bought tickets to this year’s event, to be held on Sunday, 28 May, and Monday, 29 May, out of the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, in Queensland.

According to Nichola Byrne, the general manager of AREC23, this year’s strong take-up to date “reflects a return to pre-COVID numbers.”

She also acknowledges it as highlighting “a thirst for good learning and insights by the industry.

“Leading the way in Australia is New South Wales [with] 30 per cent, followed by Queensland (25 per cent), Victoria (23 per cent), South Australia (3.3 per cent), Western Australia (3.8 per cent), Tasmania (3 per cent).”

Ms Byrne also noted a “particularly strong take-up showing from New Zealand this year” at 7 per cent.

As previously reported by REB, AREC founder John McGrath believes that “with so much change happening in the industry and the world right now, the need to expose yourself to global best practice has never been greater.”

Highlighting the changes in the Australian and New Zealand real estate profession since AREC’s inception, Mr McGrath explained that the conference kicked off from a desire “to bring the best real estate speakers and experts in the world to the Australian market.”

“Back then, the gap between the best in Australia and the best in the world was significant,” the founder recounted.

“It started with just four US speakers and now boasts over 30-plus incredible speakers, including over 20 from Australia and New Zealand. The gap has closed significantly as Australia and New Zealand are home to some of the best agents on the planet.”

The likes of Reese Witherspoon, Caitlyn Jenner, Tom Ferry, Ryan Serhant, Madison Sutton, Rich Roll and Nedd Brockman will be making their presence known on the AREC stage.

Mr McGrath conceded that it gets “very hard” to improve content year-on-year given the event’s quarter-century run, but a doubling in speaker investment delivers on AREC’s “promise of the best event in history.”

Ms Byrne had previously raised that interest in the 25th anniversary event had already exceeded interest in previous years “even before the speaker line-up was released”.

“I believe it is the combination of insights and experience from the top salespeople globally, as well as powerful life experiences that can be applied to every attendee whether in sales, property management, or marketing and brand development,” she stated.
