LJ Hooker is expanding its Perth operation with the addition of a Yokine team.
The network’s City Residential group has purchased an established agency, which most recently operated under the Professionals’ banner, and has been serving the area for 30 years.
Rebecca Halton, chief executive officer of LJ Hooker City Residential, explained that Yokine represented a strategic choice, as the group has aims of growing further across the busy Perth market.
“The timing was perfect for us as we were ready to buy another business and this is located in what we had identified as a key growth area,” Ms Halton said.
“Perth’s inner-northern suburbs are within easy reach of the city centre and popular with families and professionals as well as having investor appeal. We are delighted to take the LJ Hooker brand to Yokine and its surrounding suburbs and provide the next level of service to customers.”
She added that Yokine is attractive to a broad pool of buyers, with the locale offering a mix of affordable and high-end properties. The median house price is $750,000 and the median apartment price is $380,000.
Many of the existing employees will stay with the office, and Ms Halton spoke of her eagerness to welcome them into the fold.
“It is a big change after more than three decades, but this will be a new chapter for the team and also for us,” she said.
Stephen Mutton, LJ Hooker’s general manager of the Australian network, said that this expansion typified the brand’s approach to growth.
“We are supporting and encouraging our offices to grow and look for new opportunities, and this will strengthen our brand presence in the Perth market,” he said.
Mr Mutton commented that the network recognised the importance of growing its reach in Western Australia.
“It is important for our network to have strong ties between the east and the west states as we continue to see the migration of people across the two sides of the country,” he said.
And he added he is “always impressed by the devotion and passion of our LJ Hooker network in Western Australia”.
In his estimation, Ms Halton, as with other WA operators, is making smart moves spurred on by “strategic planning”.
