Just one month after Don Ha acquired the master franchise rights for RE/MAX within Fiji, he has opened the brand’s first office, RE/MAX Tropics, in the country’s second largest city, Lautoka.
With an expansive network of offices already operational in New Zealand, Mr Ha is eyeing rapid expansion in the south Pacific nation.
Heading the business under the leadership of Mr Ha as CEO and COO Mala Maharaj is broker owner Paula Benn, a Lautoka resident of more than 23 years, who has been working in real estate in the region for the past eight years.
Mr Ha called it “an enormous honour” to have Paula on the team, citing “her wealth of experience” as an asset to his emerging endeavour in a new region.
The primary point of contact for the group’s Fiji business will be Ms Maharaj who also heads the New Zealand operations. Born in Lautoka, she has a deep understanding of what makes real estate in that region unique.
“Picturesque Lautoka is the second-largest city in Fiji and an area of growth and employment, and we expect growth in the RE/MAX Tropics team to reflect the growth we see in its marketplace,” Ms Maharaj said.
For her, the Lautoka office also holds a special resonance.
“With my family ties to Fiji, this is more than expanding into a new region. It is like a homecoming,” she added.
Mr Ha promised that there would be more news of RE/MAX offices opening in Fiji in the coming months, with plans for further expansion in the Pacific.
“This is an incredible opportunity to serve the growing real estate market in Fiji.
“We invite you to experience a world-class real estate experience with RE/MAX Fiji and join us on this extraordinary journey as we unlock the door to this beautiful county’s real estate dreams together,” he said.
Mr Ha acquired the New Zealand RE/MAX business on 1 April 2020, and the business reports it has tripled its worth in turnover since then.
