A new business promises to “to do things differently” in South Australia.

Thomas Crawford and Vincent Doran, who formerly operated at a team under the banner of TOOP + TOOP, have struck out on their own, launching Crawford Doran in Adelaide’s sought-after inner west.

The agency opened officially on 6 August 2024, with a handful of properties on the market and ready to host prospective buyers.

South Australian businessman Nick House, whose House Group boasts a number of companies across building and development, has reportedly backed the new business, placing a high level of trust in the duo who are well-known for their performance across the state’s capital.

In 2024, Crawford placed seventh on REB’s ranking of the Top 50 Agents in SA/NT and 96th on the national Top 100 Agents list, having completed 198 sales during the last calendar year.

In this new venture – where Crawford will serve as a sales director, while Doran also steps into the role of sales director, as well as the agency’s auctioneer – the pair are hoping to build on their impressive record while bringing a point of difference to the market.

Crawford explained: “While I’ve been very fortunate to have worked at one of South Australia’s top agencies and learn from the best, I’ve always had my own ideas about what selling property could and should look like.”

“Crawford Doran promises to do things differently – and better – than what has traditionally been done and in doing so, achieve better results for our clients,” he committed.

As he shared with REB previously, this strategy involves a level of rapid recruitment that scales the team simultaneously with business growth, ensuring that personnel aren’t stretched thin by success.

In this new venture, the duo have flagged plans to increase their geographic footprint, taking advantage of what Doran described as the “significant growth opportunity” in Adelaide’s west.

He’s confident that their professional and personal experience of the area will serve them in good stead as they put their plan in motion.

“We understand this part of Adelaide because it’s our home, too. We’ve worked hard over a number of years to grow not just a strong reputation in the area, but a community and network of connections.”

In fact, Doran commented that one of the hardest aspects of launching the business had been maintaining confidentiality among their many contacts.

“It’s been difficult to keep the new agency a secret because neighbours, old clients and friends are always dropping past our Croydon office or stopping us in the local café to ask how things are going,” he shared.

As they look forward, Crawford and Doran said they were confident that the “character homes and new development” in the west would continue to have a strong pull among young families, first home buyers and investors, as they broaden their sights and look to grow.

“We’ll be expanding our reach, but no one knows this area better than we do – it’s the perfect place to start,” said Doran.
