To further expand the Sotheby’s International Realty brand across Victoria, the New Zealand and Melbourne branches announced the formation of a joint partnership.

Mark Harris, co-founder and managing director of New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty, will join forces with Rob Curtain, managing director of Peninsula Sotheby’s International Realty, to expand the brand across the Victorian capital.

“By combining our strengths and resources, we are well-positioned to expand our reach and influence in the Victoria market, delivering exceptional service to our clients,” Harris said of the venture.

Australian-born Harris established New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty 20 years ago and has since developed the business to span 31 offices nationwide. This growth has solidified the company’s position in the New Zealand residential real estate market.

Curtain, meanwhile, established control of the Melbourne business in 2019, concentrating on the Peninsula market.

The collective initiative between the New Zealand and Melbourne Sotheby’s branches will permit Curtain to maintain oversight of his Peninsula offices while helping expand the brand to different markets.

According to Curtain, the partnership is “simply the perfect fit”.

“I didn’t have to think about it for long, and we had total support from the brand’s leadership,” he said.

“This partnership allows us to leverage a wealth of knowledge and resources for our clients, while also broadening our reach and attracting the best agents to represent the Sotheby’s International Realty brand across the state,” Curtain stated.

In the next few weeks alone, Melbourne Sotheby’s International Realty is scheduled to open a new central city office in the suburb of Toorak. This office will run under the direction of award-winners Antoinette Nido and Max Ruttner.

Julian Brown, co-founder and managing director of New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty, said that he had always hoped to be further involved in bringing the brand “to key markets where we see the opportunity for growth and excellence”.

“This partnership with Melbourne Sotheby’s International Realty allows us to further that vision, combining our expertise to build a formidable presence in Victoria,” Brown said.
