The year is underway and many principals and business owners have already hit the ground running with plans to make 2012 better than last year. This month we ask… HOW DO YOU PLAN TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS IN THE NEXT 12 MONTHS?
JOEL RAWLE, hockingstuart Melton, VIC
The way in which I plan to grow my business is by changing with the times. As we have witnessed in past years, technology and new ways of marketing property are becoming the leading edge that separates average operators and successful operators. I strongly believe if you offer good service and a variety of marketing tools to your clients, you will have the edge over your competitors, and having a strong point of difference between your agency and another agency is a key factor when winning business.
LAURENCE GOODMAN, Harcourts Central, WA
This year we are celebrating our Golden Jubilee as our business steadily grows annually. We aim to sell more properties and increase our management portfolio on the back of a well-trained team and the best service. Our ongoing plan is to capture a bigger share of a smaller market by delivering results whilst selectively growing our team. We are recruiting now and we provide tools and incentives second to none. We have the best technology and systems, and our academy produces highly trained people who understand and implement our values and culture.
DENNIS VLANDIS, L J Hooker Belconnen, ACT
A significant investment in the latest technology and marketing strategies has been made to promote our properties in the most modern and professional formats. I have increased our sales team by 50 per cent, and to capitalise on our clientele’s preference to market by auction we have engaged our own exclusive auctioneer and switched to conducting auctions on site. We are accelerating our database growth (now nearing 10,000 records). Our personal development program is second to none and is well underway to support recruitment and growth over the next decade.
TONY ANDREACCHIO, Raine&Horne Ashfield, NSW
This year we have an opportunity to expand our business by incorporating a strata management department. After 21 years in property management, sales and auctions we’ve built up client rapport and relationships on the ground. I believe there is a gap in the market where clients are looking for hands-on local knowledge rather than corporate-style office management. I intend to explore these opportunities. As long as we stick to our business fundamentals – superior customer service and attention to detail – I am confident this will be a growth year.
PETER LEES, Peter Lees Real Estate, TAS
In 2012 we will be concentrating on marketing, with an e-marketing and social media focus. Further to this, we’ll be educating and training each individual team member in the importance of maintaining a quality database and what their role is in building it up. This requires that we regularly communicate with all past and future clients – both from a company and individual perspective. Our spend on print media will again be down against previous years as our focus shifts towards the exciting prospects that e-marketing and social media offer.
