Harcourts NSW has flagged ambitious growth plans, with the group planning to open 21 offices this year.
The state franchise has just opened its first office of the year, in the Southern Highlands region south of Sydney. It now manages 25 offices in NSW as well as one in the ACT.
Chief executive Mark Morrison told REB that Harcourts NSW plans to open another 20 offices in 2016.
Five of the openings will occur next month – Mt Druitt in Sydney, Gungahlin in Canberra and the regional communities of Coffs Harbour, Swansea and Berry.
Half of the offices that are scheduled to open this year will be outside of Sydney, with the franchise targeting further growth in Illawarra, the Central Coast and Canberra.
Harcourts NSW also made eight openings in 2015, including the group’s first Canberra site, in Kingston.
The other openings were in the small town of Kurrajong and the Sydney suburbs of Carlingford, Collaroy, Frenchs Forest, Penrith, St Marys and Minto.
Harcourts has just unveiled a national rebrand that involved an investment of “many hundreds of thousands of dollars”.
Mr Morrison said the rebrand was likely to generate more interest among potential franchisees, despite the highly competitive nature of the market.
“I think we are finding the more competition the better for agents and agencies who are looking to franchise,” he said.
“There will always be room for new, strong competitive offices to open as long as the principals are willing to put in the hard work and are backed up by good systems, training, technology and marketing.”
