McGrath Estate Agents has recruited two Jellis Craig members to lead the group’s second Melbourne office.

Con Lazogas and Hugh Trieu have signed on as principals of the new Mt Waverley office.

Mr Trieu told REB that both men previously worked at Jellis Craig Mt Waverley, with Mr Lazogas serving as principal and Mr Trieu working as a sales rep and head auctioneer.

Mr Trieu said he and his colleague felt that McGrath Estate Agents shared their values. They also liked the fact that the company’s chief executive, John McGrath, is active in the business and has a high profile.

“McGrath to us was a no-brainer and mirrors what we’ve been doing in real estate,” Mr Trieu said.

Jellis Craig chief executive Nick Dowling told REB that the group wished Mr Lazogas and Mr Trieu all the best with the next stage of their careers.

“Mt Waverley is a large and active market, and with our continued growth and current number one position, we are thrilled to announce the appointment of Jared Wei as a director of Jellis Craig Mt Waverley,” he said.

McGrath Estate Agents announced in November that it was about to begin its long-anticipated expansion into Victoria. The following month, it opened its first office, in St Kilda, after convincing a Hodges office to rebrand.

Both Mt Waverley and St Kilda are franchise businesses rather than company-owned offices.

Mr McGrath said the move into Mt Waverley is part of a strategic roll-out of premium franchises in Melbourne.

“Mt Waverley is one of Melbourne’s most dynamic and sought-after suburbs. With a selection of leading schools and an emerging Chinese community, the area has experienced strong growth and buyer demand,” he said.

“We have taken our time in selecting franchise partners who are well established in the area and share our core values for excellence and integrity.”

Mt Waverley has a median house price of $1.22 million and a median unit price of $775,000, according to CoreLogic RP Data.

Meanwhile, McGrath Estate Agents also announced that it will open a company-owned office at Paradise Point on the Gold Coast in mid-February.

That will be the company’s third Gold Coast office, 17th Queensland office and 80th Australian office.
