Crowned REB’s Sales Agent of the Year and ranked 19th in the Top 100 Agents, Tim Heavyside has been consistently recognised as one of Australia’s elite salespeople. Here he gives us a glimpse into his typical day.
6.30am I normally wake up and scan any emails from overnight. I like to have a quick look at my day ahead (on my phone) and then get dressed for some exercise. I enjoy being fit and healthy. I train five times a week – this includes running, my own personal gym workout sessions, walking the dog and two personal training sessions at the gym. I love this time – it’s almost the only time I have to myself.
8.00am Back at home I take a shower and enjoy a family breakfast before getting ready to head into the office.
9.00am I’m generally in the office at this time. If I am not in the office, I am in work mode. 9am is usually a busy time, when most of my incoming phone calls begin from potential vendors wanting to set up an appraisal with me. I also find that potential vendors who I’m waiting to get the green light from to list with me will call around this time. I have noticed this for a while now, so I’m always ready to answer my phone.
Between 9am and 10am I normally catch up with Allison (my EA) to run through the day and communicate on a variety of matters. Depending on the day of the week, we also conduct a group sales meeting, run training for the sales team or have a meeting with my immediate team.
10.00am Generally chasing immediate new business and prospecting.
12.00pm Check emails, allocate workload to team members (if necessary) and admin (reports etc.), deal with matters as a director and eat a nutritious lunch. I normally go to a number of local cafes for branding and to connect with the local community (always wearing my name badge). You would be surprised how much business this generates (particularly if done over a long period of time).
2.00pm Market appraisals/listings work/mentoring colleagues.
3.30pm Around this time of the day my energy hits a low, so I don’t tend to have any appointments to win new business around this time of the day. Also, this is school pick-up time and can be a nightmare on the roads!
5.00pm Market appraisals/listings work until the end of the day, which can go all the way to 9pm (depends on the night of the week, and the seasonal work dictates how late I work). On Wednesday nights I am always home by 6pm (dedicated family dinner time).
