Leading Australian residential property website realestate.com.au has invested heavily in a relaunch of its news section.

The real estate portal has this week launched a new-look news site, which features more video and visual content to meet growing consumer demand for information and entertainment.

According to realestate.com.au, this investment comes after the site exceeded 3.4 million visits for its news section between January 2015 and January 2016.

Libby Minogue, REA Group’s executive general manager of media and marketing, highlighted that content is playing an “increasingly crucial role” on the portal.

“We are investing heavily in content to serve this portion of our audience who may not be looking to buy or sell, but love property and spend time looking at realestate.com.au,” Ms Minogue explained.

She also pointed out that while the relaunch will go further to meet the needs of consumers, it will also allow the group to create partnerships with its advertisers and brands.

Sarah Millar, managing editor of realestate.com.au, commented that the site will now include the latest property news, data and trends, expert advice and how-to guides.

The group’s chief economist Nerida Conisbee will also provide market insights and expert analysis of the latest property trends, Ms Millar said.

“Viewers can watch videos from the homepage and browse galleries of incredible properties in Australia and around the world,” Ms Millar added.

“All their favourite how-to guides are now found in the relevant section – whether they’re looking to buy, rent, sell, invest, renovate or simply dream.”
