We've heard it all before – healthy body, healthy mind – but how much does your health affect your wealth?
A physically healthier team is likely to be more productive and deliver more profitable results because real estate offices are essentially people-driven businesses.
Laing+Simmons managing director Leanne Pilkington made this point in the wake of the launch of the group’s new employee assistance program.
The program was put in place to provide support to team members who might be experiencing stress, depression or anxiety.
“While the employee assistance program initiative is focused first and foremost on the health and wellbeing of members of the Laing+Simmons family, there are bottom line benefits as well,” Ms Pilkington told REB.
She said the program is an important resource for franchisees and their teams to call upon when they need to.
“Ultimately it’s an investment in our people, providing them another avenue of support to enable them to focus on what they do best,” she added.
“The Laing+Simmons value proposition centres on empowering our agents, freeing up their time and energy to focus on their core business, and this is just another example of our approach in practice,” said Ms Pilkington.
Laing+Simmons team members can now access free and anonymous counselling services, either in their working or personal lives.
The sessions are organised confidentially and run by Employee Assistance Services Australia (EASA), with the cost covered by Laing+Simmons. Employees’ privacy is protected at all times.
Additional benefits of the program include reduced absenteeism and lost time injuries, enhanced conflict resolution procedures, better coping mechanisms for staff during stressful periods, and an overall improved focus for team members while they’re at work.
To date, Laing+Simmons claims to be the only real estate network to introduce this initiative at a corporate level.
The Laing+Simmons employee assistance program was launched in August 2016 and has already been accessed by team members.
