LJ Hooker has launched its new charity, the LJ Hooker Foundation, to manage the donations raised by its network across Australia.
More than $1 million is expected to be raised by the group’s 600 offices over the next five years.
Today’s launch date was chosen to coincide with the LJ Hooker Foundation Day, marking the day LJ Hooker first opened for business in Maroubra, in suburban Sydney, 88 years ago.
CEO Grant Harrod said supporting local communities is the cornerstone of the iconic LJ Hooker brand.
LJ Hooker’s weekend fundraising efforts make a tangible difference to the communities in which they live and work, he said.
“With the establishment of LJ Hooker Foundation, we can receipt and facilitate these donations ensuring that every dollar raised is accounted for and has a charitable purpose,” Mr Harrod said.
Two major charities have been chosen as beneficiaries – Cystic Fibrosis Australia and the Humpty Dumpty Foundation.
Cystic Fibrosis Australia has long been a charity partner of LJ Hooker, and the real estate group has raised more than $5 million through its participation in the annual 65 Roses fundraising day, sausage sizzles and community events.
The LJ Hooker Foundation will fund the development of CF Consumer Connect, a new platform for cystic fibrosis community members to share feedback on their care and treatment. CF Consumer Connect will be launched next year.
The Humpty Dumpty Foundation facilitates the donation of child life-saving medical equipment in 275 hospitals around Australia.
This number is expected to rise to more than 300 hospitals, with the LJ Hooker Foundation having making a donation of nearly $50,000 in equipment to the paediatric wards in eight public hospitals nation-wide.
The Humpty Dumpty Foundation’s executive chairman Paul Francis said the partnership will provide an opportunity for regional and remote hospitals to benefit from the generosity of LJ Hooker.
Meanwhile, Mr Harrod said LJ Hooker is proud to be backing the Humpty Dumpty Foundation.
“It’s a wonderful, unique charity that runs on a tight budget. We’re so pleased we are able to support and accelerate the wonderful work they do.”
