The Real Estate Institute of Queensland will hold its showcase event for 2016, the REIQ Summit, next month. The institute promises it will be a conference like no other, and participants will learn how to turn their dreams into reality.

Now in its second year, the conference is targeted at sales agents, property managers, commercial agents, auctioneers, business brokers and buyer’s agents.

REIQ CEO, Antonia Mercorella, says the event will build on its first-year success, and will provide delegates with practical advice.

“Yes, we will motivate you and get you excited, but where other events are focus on hyping you up before pushing you out the door, we do so much more,” Ms Mercorella said.

“[Our speakers will] help agents set bold dreams and map out a course to achieve that dream, no matter what it is – double your commissions, triple your rent roll – it’s all achievable.”

During the two-day event, 32 speakers will address delegates. They include keynote speakers Leigh Brown, thought leader Matt Church, real estate coach Nick Boyd and property management coach Tara Bradbury from the BDM Academy.

The conference will also feature ‘The Great Debate’. Hosted by the Real Estate Talk’s Kevin Turner, two teams will argue the merits of franchising and going independent.

The debate will pit some of the biggest brands – Ray White, Harcourts and RE/MAX – against some of the smallest – Amber Werchon Properties, Doug Disher Real Estate and Urban Property Agents.

In addition, perennial favourites REIQ trainer Connie McKee and QCAT senior member Peta Stilgoe will return this year to share their combined knowledge of 50 years in property management.

Ms McKee said property managers need to know how to get the best outcome in the event of a QCAT dispute.

“There is a lot to know and a lot to understand and we’ll share our experience and our knowledge with you so that you can benefit from that,” she said.

REIQ Summit 2016 will be held at Brisbane’s Royal International Convention Centre on October 6 and 7.
