One of Australia’s leading women in real estate has been honoured with a prestigious award.
CEO of Harcourts Victoria, Sadhana Smiles, was named as a category winner in The Australian Financial Review and Westpac 100 Women of Influence Awards.
Now in its fifth year, the awards celebrate outstanding women in 10 categories from a range of sectors.
Ms Smiles was recognised in the Board/Management category for her contribution to business leadership, philanthropy and advocating for workplace diversity.
She said it was a privilege to be placed alongside so many “game-changing” women.
“My own experiences have inspired me to use my influence as a female leader to help pave the way for greater diversity and greater equality in our workplaces,” Ms Smiles said.
“I will continue to use both the platform as a Woman of Influence and my voice as vehicles to drive change in corporate Australia on the issue of workplace diversity and equality.”
Westpac’s director of women’s markets, diversity and inclusion, Ainslie van Onselen, said women in Australia are using their influence to transform the country.
“It is an honour to be able to recognise and award the incredible work these women have made ongoing to our society,” Ms van Onselen said.
The Australian Financial Review BOSS editor, Joanne Gray, said the winners this year have gone “above and beyond” to create a positive legacy.
“We are thrilled to be celebrating this fresh cohort of extraordinary women,” Ms Gray said.
The overall winner for 2016 will be announced at a gala awards event at Sydney Town Hall on 27 October.
Ms Smiles, along with the nine other category winners, will join an alumnae of 500 of Australia’s most inspiring women at the event.
