Five agents have signed on to run auctions with a difference in support of youth homelessness prevention.
Kids Under Cover – a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to preventing young people from becoming homeless – has enlisted the help of the agents to auction off cubby houses. All funds raised will go towards supporting the charity’s youth homelessness prevention initiatives.
Kids Under Cover ran a competition to choose the cubbies with the most innovative and fun designs.
Now it’s up to the agents to create a marketing campaign to represent their allocated cubby and secure the highest bid on auction night, held at Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show in March.
The agents taking part are Harry Li of iSell Group, Sam Rigopoulos of Jellis Craig, Glen Coutinho of RT Edgar, Luke Banitsiotis of Woodards and Tom Roberts of Nelson Alexander.
“Our auctioneers are stepping up to the challenge of raising funds that will be directly invested into our youth homelessness prevention initiatives, including our scholarship program and building relocatable studios to accommodate at-risk young people,” CEO of Kids Under Cover, Jo Swift, said.
All the agents taking part in the event for 2017 have been involved in previous years.
“The Cubby House Challenge is an exciting event that brings a great amount of attention to a cause close to our hearts,” said Mr Li said.
“The whole process, from the designers, builders through to the auctioneers, is a team effort.”
All cubbies will be open for inspection at the garden show and prospective buyers can register for the auction on the Kids Under Cover website.
The judging panel comprises of Peter Maddison, host of Lifestyle Channel’s Grand Designs Australia; Joe Snell, architect and judge on Channel 7’s House Rules; interior designer Fiona Lynch; Lucy Feagins, editor of The Design Files; Alice Stolz, national managing editor of Domain and parenting expert Dr Justin Coulson.
