For the first time ever, no real estate agencies found their way into the NSW complaints register.

NSW Fair Trading has released its December 2016 Complaints Register which shows that for the first time in the register’s short history the real estate industry is in the clear.

Fair Trading publishes the list monthly, listing businesses that are the subject of 10 or more complaints in the previous month.

Since the launch of the register in July 2016, there have been at least two, and up to seven, real estate businesses listed each month.

NSW Fair Trading Commissioner Rod Stowe said this was a positive result for the industry.

“We hope this is a trend that continues long into 2017 and that it’s not just a seasonal blip,” Mr Stowe said.

Beyond the real estate industry, Harvey Norman topped the latest register, after it received 28 complaints in December 2016.

It was followed by online fashion store Shakuhachi, with 26 complaints and Samsung Electronics with 19.

Overall, the number of consumer complaints dropped 14 per cent in the month, which Mr Stowe said was an indication of the impact the register was making.
