One leading Australian buyer’s agency has announced the launch of its first US office in Los Angeles, California.

Led by Australian expat Rowan Isaacs, Cohen Handler LA will offer services to Australians who want to buy in the Los Angeles region, with additional buyer’s agent services to be added over the coming months.

Mr Isaacs said the Australian market is “out of control” and more people are looking beyond the Australian property markets for new places to invest in.

“We’re a nation of travellers and LA is a second home to many people,” he said.

“Compared to major cities in Australia, investment in LA is extremely attractive, with a strong rental yield and positive returns. We see great opportunities in LA for buyers and investors, with positive gearing generating great rental returns compared to the Australian market.”

Co-founder and CEO of Cohen Handler, Ben Handler, compared the differences between the United States’ property market and the Australian one. In the US, many real estate agents often double as a buyer’s agent, representing both sides of the property process.

Mr Handler said working for both the buyer and seller splits an agent’s time and focus, and Cohen Handler is “solely focused” on representing buyers.

“This focus on helping the buyer find the right property at the right price results in better trust with the client [and] it also allows Cohen Handler to develop strong partnerships with local real estate agents as opposed to competing for the same customers,” he said.

“I’m extremely excited for Rowan to lead Cohen Handler’s expansion into the US and also bring our successful Australian twist to the US market.”
