Century 21 has announced the winner of its inaugural apartment giveaway competition.
Brian Gittings of Lindendale in northern New South Wales won the $400,000 unit after successfully selling his macadamia farm through Century 21 last year.
Mr Gittings said he was “totally surprised” and in a “fluster” when he found out that he won.
“The farm that we sold was our only income source and when I reached 75, I thought it was time to retire,” he said.
“While we live fairly modestly, this fantastic prize means that we can have a decent retirement and live with less worry.”
Noel Outerbridge of Century 21 Plateau Lifestyle Alstonville transacted the winning property.
Mr Outerbridge said he was delighted with the result.
“Century 21 chairman Charles Tarbey called to inform me of the winner and when he said Brian Gittings’ name I immediately thought, ‘Wow, that’s absolutely fantastic’,” he said.
“Brian and his wife Julie are a lovely, hardworking couple and it was fantastic to see what they have achieved on their macadamia farm over the years.”
Mr Outerbridge said the win couldn’t have happened to a nicer person, adding that the competition has been “fantastic” for Century 21’s local businesses.
The contest kicked off in May 2016, and tens of thousands of Australian and New Zealand residents entered to win the $400,000 prize.
