The founder of a prominent Sydney eastern suburbs real estate agency and 30-year veteran of the industry has returned to his roots and joined The Agency.

Damien Bickmore-Hutt has joined The Agency after an extended break and will be working in Ben Collier’s Sydney team.

Mr Bickmore-Hutt sold his business Bickmore-Hutt Realty in 2007 to expand his professional skill set as a stock market investor.

He says he was drawn to The Agency because it has the three things that make it a great company –leadership, culture and a unique product.

“I’ve never been more excited by the prospect of a new role than the one that lies ahead,” Mr Bickmore-Hutt said.

“To contribute towards this new business model co-founded by Ben Collier and the board of directors. To be surrounded by the best people in real estate and be part of forward-thinking change, which looks to reshape the real estate industry like never before.”

The Agency CEO Matt Lahood said he is excited with the new appointment.

“We are thrilled to have somebody of Damien Bickmore-Hutt’s calibre joining The Agency and complementing our growing team,” Mr Lahood said.

“He has been one of the leading real estate identities in Sydney’s eastern suburbs for 30 years.”

Since February, Mr Collier’s team has made $89 million in residential sales.

Mr Bickmore-Hutt’s appointment follows that of former McGrath director Peter Kakos earlier in the month, as general manager for Victoria.

Mr Kakos is charged with establishing The Agency’s expansion strategy into Melbourne.

It is a task he says he is “raring” to take on, given that he has long believed the traditional real estate model can be improved on.

Mr Kakos will focus on five areas in the Melbourne market – recruitment, support and operating systems, marketing, client service and a balanced working culture.

The Agency is backed by ASX-listed Ausnet, a provider of real estate and financial services in Australia.
