There is a perception that property management is an industry that is lacking when it comes to career paths, according to property manager Michelle Williams.

The award-winning director of @home Property Management Solutions will share her view about the opportunities that exist within property management when she addresses delegates at the PPM Conference.

“For me it’s about helping people to realise that there is so much to offer in this industry and so much room for personal growth and a career path, and even potential business ownership,” she said.

Ms Williams will share details of her 16-year career in property management and her journey from an employee to a successful business owner.

“It’s been really good to reflect and look back on what I have achieved," she said.

Ms Williams’ presentation coincides with her company’s induction into the hall of fame for winning the PPM National Award for Excellence three years in a row.

A line-up of leading speakers will also be speaking at the two-day conference, including empowerment coach and former basketball player Nique Stewart, Amy Sanderson from LJ Hooker Corporate, Chris Rolls from Rentals Express, and Malcom Riley.

The conference will focus on various aspects relevant to the property management industry, from reception to business owners. Topics include maximising success, building rent rolls, using the latest technology, the changing world of communication, recruitment, and best practices.

“It is in tough economic times when our knowledge, systems and ability to think outside the square are tested most,” said Debbie Palmer, managing director of PPM Group.

“It is in these times when some property management departments need to focus on adopting new ideas and processes in order to survive.

“Each year the PPM Conference gets bigger and better. The speakers and, in particular, the information content that will be delivered is by far the best we have designed in 10 years.

“There are so many standout sessions that will literally challenge and change your team’s mindset as to how they manage their day-to-day tasks and grow the business.”
