500 turn out for ARPM13

Over 500 property managers converged on the Sydney Hilton for the 16th Australasian Residential Property Management (ARPM) Conference at the weekend.

The two-day conference that started on Sunday featured a range of speakers, including TV personality and author Andrew Daddo, who MC'd the event, Starr Partners CEO Douglas Driscoll, Finders Keepers director Frank Webster, managing director of Rezilium Kamal Sarma, and motivational speaker Sebastian Terry.

The theme for ARPM this year was growth, with attendees encouraged to grow in various levels as individuals, teams and through their brand strength.

Event organiser Fiona Blayney, director of Blayney Potential Plus, told Residential Property Manager the huge cross-section of speakers helped make the event a success.

“One of the biggest challenges of organising a conference program like this is making sure we cater for everyone - something for the new property manager or the new person in real estate, as well as that 25-, 30-, 40-year veteran, the country agent, the city agent, the small independent and the big corporate," she said. "I think we hit it on the head.”

Ms Blayney said the aim had been to create a conference that was relevant for all property managers, regardless of where they were from.

“This conference is different to any of the others because we really aim to have the conference at a strategic business thinking level," she said.

"So if I was looking at it from a nuts and bolts property management perspective, we may not hit the mark because every state, territory and country is different, so we really tried to get the strategy level and as a result, there’s something in here for everyone."

Ms Blayney also used the conference to launch Real Plus Estate, an online e-learning platform for property managers.

“It’s still the only kind in the industry. We’ve got full HTML5, interactive, cartoon-style e-learning modules, which no-one in the industry has and it has remained strong for 12 months,” she said. “We’ve just seen an influx of people wanting to know more about this system and wanting to take it on."

Residential Property Manager will be bringing you a wrap-up of all the action from the event in our September issue of the print magazine.
