A family of 15 is facing eviction from a Department of Housing property in southern Perth.
According to a report by the ABC, a couple whose extended family of 15 is facing eviction in Perth’s southern suburbs fear their children will end up in gangs or in prison.
Robyn Stratton and Athol Michael said they had worked hard to meet the standards set by the Department of Housing.
They have taken out an alcohol prohibition order on their house, engaged with government agencies to keep their children in school and directed their older children into training programs.
Ms Stratton told the ABC without a stable home, her children, the youngest of whom is five months old, would likely fall into drugs and crime.
"I'd hate to imagine where my children will be in a year," she said.
"I believe they'll probably be all locked up."
The department defended the eviction order saying there had been 46 complaints about disruptive behaviour, $26,000 in rental arrears and a failure to meet property standards.
It refused to renew the family's lease and has now secured a court order demanding they leave the property.
The family is planning an appeal.
