Forget profit; focus on team

Creating a winning team should be the number one priority for all businesses, according to one of Australia’s leading business trainers.

After driving the computer division of Harvey Norman from $12 million annual turnover to $580 million, Tony Gattari has since started several businesses and written five books.

Now coaching other entrepreneurs through his Achievers Group, Mr Gattari claims that businesses that focus on profit over people are getting it wrong.

“I predominantly talk about building a profitable business in a practical, non-theoretical way. I’m not an academic; I’m a practical realist who lives in the real world.

“I’m a huge believer in building a championship team, which is the greatest challenge that most businesses have,” he told Residential Property Manager.

According to Mr Gattari, creating a fully cohesive team using members from multiple generations has become the norm for the real estate industry.

“The best of the best focus on the important parts of their business. It’s not necessarily growing their top line, but growing their team and working together as one unit that is going to take your business to the next level,” he said.

Mr Gattari will be hosting two sessions at the 2014 Leading Property Managers of Australia (LPMA) conference on April 3 and 4 on the Gold Coast.
