In an attempt to give her tenants a better experience, one property manager hired a whole cinema for a ‘client appreciation night’.
Speaking at the LPMA Conference on the Gold Coast earlier this month, practicing property manager Kelley Ann-Seaton from Property Management HQ (PMHQ) admitted that her take on property management was controversial.
“My whole philosophy is to treat the tenant with equal respect and dignity as you would a landlord, which is something that a lot of property managers don’t do,” Ms Seaton said.
While it’s good business practice considering many tenants become landlords, it is also important from an ethical perspective, she said.
“They’re people too, and even though it’s the landlord’s money going into your pocket – it’s the tenant who is paying them that money in the first place,” she said.
To show her appreciation to her tenant clients, Ms Seaton told delegates about her experience hosting a ‘client appreciation night’.
“We hired out the cinema and invited all our tenants as a way to say thank you,” she said.
Ms Seaton used the opportunity to gather video testimonials for PMHQ to help attract even more top-tier tenants.
Unsurprisingly, the night was well received by her clients.
“Never before has a property manager done something like this for me,” one happy client said.
All up, including hiring and transporting the camera crew, the event cost Ms Seaton around $2,000.
“Which when you work it out is just $8 per seat in the cinema, which is really nothing for making an impression on your client which will last a lifetime,” she said.
