Wealthy Queenslanders are paying as much as $3,000 a week to rent some of the state’s most luxurious homes.
One of Brisbane’s most expensive rentals is at Fig Tree Pocket, which owners Andrew and Georgina Woods are hoping to lease for $3,000 a week, as reported by the Sunday Mail.
“We’re heading overseas for business and rather than have someone house sit we thought we would see how it went,” Mrs Woods said.
“I was shocked at first to hear people would pay so much, but the market is there and interest has been good so far.
“There’s not a lot of exclusive homes on the river, especially so close to the city,” she added.
But the state’s most expensive rentals are not just limited to the inner city, with a Sanctuary Cove home listed for $3,900 a week and a Hope Island house for $3,500.
Johnston Dixon property manager Kristy Lord said the high-end rental market had only become popular in the last five years.
“There are now a lot more CEOs and high-profile figures from interstate who want a home that matches their lifestyle and family.
“Because of that we’ve seen tenants who are happy to pay as much as $3,200 a week if the home fits the bill,” she said.
“People have a very clear idea of what they want.
“The homes that get prices between $2,000 and $3,000 are often in blue-chip suburbs and in Brisbane they run west, where you can find riverfront, acreage and proximity to the city,” she explained.
