The sole director of a South Australian real estate agency has won the Business Owner Award in the 2014 Telstra South Australian Business Women’s Awards.
Sandra Berry, owner of Sandra Berry Real Estate in Adelaide Hills, was praised for nurturing her staff and said she was passionate about supporting women in real estate and forging collaborations that add value.
“My most significant achievement is the ongoing employment opportunities offered by my small, dynamic business,” Ms Berry said.
“I am passionate about making changes that would ensure greater longevity and prosperity to those that choose this industry as a profession.”
As part of her business, Sandra introduced client-paid retainers to the sales area of her business which she said could be an answer to job security within the real estate industry and she remains committed to giving school-leavers who show a passion for real estate a job.
In accepting the award Ms Berry said she would like to see an apprenticeship-style arrangement in place nationally to encourage school-leavers to enter the real estate industry.
Winners of the award will attend the national finals in Melbourne, November 26. Finalists and winners will share in over $600,000 in cash and prizes.
