A group of enthusiastic knitters created and displayed a kitchen in which everything from furniture to food was 'knitted, crocheted, felted and wrapped'.
Fashioned by more than 50 artists, the temporary installation, titled ‘Knitchen’, includes knitted paintings, a sink, fridge, window and even flying ducks on the wall.
Warwick Art Gallery in regional Queensland hosted the work, which takes the art of 'yarn bombing' or 'guerilla knitting' to new heights. The floor alone is made up of more than six kilograms of yarn.
The stunning display was put together for the 2014 Jumpers and Jazz in July festival in Warwick.
Loretta Grayson, one of the coordinators of the project, said they were overwhelmed by the popularity of the Knitchen.
“Many thousands of people visited the exhibition, and it was lovely to see the smiles on visitors' faces as they noticed all the quirky details,” she said.
