There are still suburbs within some of Australia’s capital cities that have average weekly rents under $250.
Statistics provided by CoreLogic RP Data for February show seven Adelaide suburbs made the top 10 for most affordable to rent.
Elizabeth Vale and Davoren Park in Adelaide topped the list, with average weekly rents of $200.
This was down from $260 in January 2014 for Elizabeth Vale and $250 for Davoren Park.
Primrose Sands in Hobart also recorded an average weekly rent of $200, a drop from $220 the previous year.
Next came Elizabeth Downs in Adelaide, which fell from $210 to $208.
Brisbane made its first appearance in the top 10, with Lamb Island remaining unchanged from the previous year at $210.
Elizabeth South in Adelaide also recorded an average weekly rent of $210. This was down from $251 in February last year.
Clarendon Vale in Hobart produced an average asking rent of $213, which was an increase from $210 the previous year.
Evanston and Elizabeth Grove, both in Adelaide, recorded an average asking rent of $218.
Evanston’s rent dropped from $288 in January 2014, while Elizabeth Grove’s rent also fell from $255.
Elizabeth East in Adelaide rounded out the top 10, recording an average weekly rent of $220, which was a drop from $260.
