One team of property managers has participated in a bonding exercise with a difference – making over the backyards of three cancer patients.
Davey Real Estate set out to give back to the community by giving 25 PMs and business managers a day away from the office to help families less fortunate.
Operations manager Sharon Christou told Residential Property Manager the agency does team-building exercises annually, but changed things up this year.
“People were saying how admirable it was that an agency allowed its team of PMs a day away from the office, not only to bond but also to help such beautiful people,” Ms Christou said.
“The family I was working with even sent a text with a picture of the little girls playing in their refurbished cubby house – that was just so great to receive.”
Ms Christou said the feedback from the day has been phenomenal, with people from the wider community offering to help if the agency does it again.
General manager Andrew Davey told Residential Property Manager the business has had a long corporate relationship with the Cancer Council.
Mr Davey said his grandmother Peg Davey, who founded the agency, needed its services during her fight with cancer many years ago.
“From my point of view it was great to see leaders emerge and to watch some people really step up and perform and work really hard to achieve their tasks.”
