One of Australia’s best property management professionals has risen to the top while mastering the art of shooting her own video inspections.
Professionals Lithgow principal Tina Case said introducing videos for inspections and open homes helped her win the Regional Property Manager of the Year award at the recent Real Estate Business Awards.
“Our videos are under a minute and I feel that my landlords really love them because they feel really personal,” she told RPM.
“They feel like they’re getting to know us because they can see us and, because we shoot it at their property, they get to see the front of their home.”
Implementing video inspections was done by trial and error, but Ms Case said failing was an important element of getting the process right.
“You have to be prepared to try things, do them wrong, take on feedback and change it up to make everyone happy,” she said.
In the process of shooting their own videos, Professionals Lithgow received feedback about the length and quality of videos from landlords and adjusted them as necessary.
“Some landlords got some videos that were really terrible and when we realised they weren’t good, we’d call them and say, ‘We’re trying this new thing, so what do you think we could do differently?’ and the majority were happy to go on that journey with us,” Ms Case said.
She said her company’s journey has been one of constant and rapid change, which has been vital in differentiating itself from the competition.
“When I go to a conference and I hear about something I like, then I’ll implement it into the business and make sure we do it straight away.”
